Arca de Noé
Arca de Noé runs a kindergarten school in the heart of the Vila Prudente favela, one of the oldest favelas in Săo Paulo. The school takes cares of one hundred children between 4 and 6 years old, all day long. The school employs teachers from the favela; they all have a good educational background and work under the school director and the pedagogical coordinator’ s supervision.
The school’s objective is to prevent the children spending their time in the streets or in front of the TV screen and to give them the ability to enter the primary school with good conditions. The program also focuses on the development of the children motor skills, their social integration and a basic alphabetization.
There is also a special focus on families: visits to their home, basic food supplies - "cestas basicas" based on a voluntary nutritionist’ s recommendations – for the most destitute people.
Last but not least, a "mother’s association" makes work crafts with the voluntaries’ help. The sale of these products enables them to increase the families’ resources and to contribute to finance the Arca de Noé.
Constantin does Arca de Noé’s book-keeping free of charge and participates in the board of governors.
